Frequently Asked Questions / Handy Hints

Q. Does my device have to be switched on when I'm programming it?
A. Yes.

Q. The brand of my device isn't listed in the Code List.
A. Try the Code Search or Library search. This should be done with your device ON - in the case of a television actually showing a programme; if for a video recorder then play a tape.

Q. How do I know when I've come to the end of the search?
A. When there is a rapid flashing of the LED. This can take up to twenty minutes depending on what you are trying to programme, for instance there are more TV codes available than codes for Cable/SAT.

Q. I have found a code but it doesn't operate the Volume (or some other function).
A. The code you have found is not the correct one. Some of the codes overlap so one code may do some of the functions but there may be a code that will do ALL of the functions. Try all the codes listed for your brand and see if you can obtain a closer match.

Q. Can I set the video recorder to programme while I am out?
A. Unfortunately not.

Q. My brand is listed in the Device Code List but the remote control still won't work.
A. The remote control works with MOST models for the brands listed. Unfortunately there will always be a few which aren't compatible.

Q. How do I tune in the channel buttons?
A. The unit is pre-programmed in the factory. It is not possible to alter the tuning.

Q. My TV switches off after being programmed and will NOT switch back ON.
A. Try operating any of the channel buttons, it should switch back on.

Q. The remote control has caused my TV to become faulty.
A. IMPOSSIBLE. There is no way a remote control can cause a TV or Video to become faulty.
