Quick Guide for setting up your Remote Control:

Programming your TV:

• Switch on your TV so a programme is actually showing.
• Press TV mode key at the top of the remote.
• Hold down P and V together until the red indicator light comes on at the top right hand corner of the remote control.
• Refer to the DEVICE CODE LIST and key in the four-digit device code. The red light should go out when the last digit has been entered.
• Try the function keys (e.g. try and change channels etc.) If the TV does not respond, repeat the above with the other codes listed for your TV.

If your TV does not respond to any of the listed codes, try the Library Search:

LIBRARY SEARCH:

• Switch on your TV or video recorder so a programme or tape is actually showing.
• Press device mode key, e.g. TV.
• Hold down the P and V buttons together until the red light comes on at the top right hand corner of the remote control.
• Refer to the table below then key in the Magic Search Code, e.g. 0001 if seeking a TV code. (Light goes out after entering the last digit)

• Press the same device mode key again, e.g. TV.
• Hold down the P and V buttons together until the red light comes on again. The remote is now ready to start the search.
• Point the remote at the TV (or VCR or CD player) and press the power button (the pink button at the top left) on and off until the TV (or VCR or CD player) switches off. Press the button about every second, no faster.
• Each time you press the power button the remote sends out a signal trying to turn off your TV (or VCR or CD player).
• Immediately after the TV (or VCR or CD player) goes off press P and V to lock in that code. The red light will go off.
• If you failed to stop pressing the power button when the set had turned off, turn the TV (or VCR or CD player) immediately and before the indicator goes out on the remote control press the mute button (the grey button below V-) and then lock the code in by pressing P+ and V-. The red light should go out.

When the indicator flashes twice after pressing the power key you have reached the last code of the library. Press P+ and V- buttons again and carefully resume the search.

Congratulations! Your Universal Remote Control (URC) is a state-of-the-art device, which integrates many different infrared remote controls to deliver instant A/V action to your fingertips.

This URC is pre-programmed in the factory. It replaces up to 4 separate remote

Controls to operate your infrared controlled televisions (TV’s), videocassette recorders (VCR’s) and cable TV converters (CBL’s). Simply entering correct device Codes for your equipment and your URC is ready to use. A DEVICE CODE LIST is included in this user manual.

Before operating the remote, please read thoroughly (1) the interior of the coversheet and (2) this manual. Then reserve them for future reference.

1 HOW TO INSTALL BATTERIES

For this remote, 4 fresh AAA size alkaline batteries are required (not included).

To install batteries, follow these steps:

1. Remove the battery cover on the back of your URC.

2. Observe the polarity of the batteries and the “+/–” marks inside the battery compartment.

3. Insert the batteries.

4. Push the battery cover back in place.

Battery Low: When the battery power is getting low, the indicator will dim.

2 HOW TO SET UP THE URC

By entering Device Code

You may setup the URC by the following code entering instructions.

1. Refer to the DEVICE CODE LIST, look up the 4-digit Device Code, which corresponds to the brands of your A/V equipment. If there is more than one

Device Code listed under your brand, try from the first code.

2. Press a desired Device Mode Key (e.g. TV).

3. Hold down “P+” and “VOL –“ on the URC together simultaneously for 2 seconds until the indicator lights up.

4. Use the number keys to enter your 4-digit Device Code, the indicator should go out immediately.

Turn on your device (e.g. TV), try the function keys on the URC. If your device

(E.g. TV) responds to your invoked function correctly, you have entered the right Device Code. Otherwise, repeat the above setup instructions with the rest available Device Codes until your device (e.g. TV) responds to your invoked function, and most keys work correctly.

* Simply repeat the above procedures to enter the Device Codes for your

VCR, or CBL. (Remember to press a correct Device Mode Key in step 2 above)

Note :

–    The second TV, VCR or CBL can be entered into “AUX” mode. Just simply press AUX mode key in step 2 and enter your 4- digit device code  for your second TV, VCR or CBL in step 4.

-     If a wrong device code is entered, the indicator will flash and stay lit. You are required to enter another code.

-     If you press the SET key at any time (except step 3), you will exit the programming mode. You will have to start again from step 2.

-     If you cannot identify a correct device code for your equipment from the

    device code list, you may search the code through the library. (See 2

    HOW TO SETUP THE URC- By Searching Through the Library)

Suggestion :

– If you cannot find a correct Device Code for your equipment, see 2 HOW

TO SET UP THE URC– By Searching Through the Library.

– You are recommended to jot down your Device Codes in the space provided

on back label after setting up the URC correctly for future reference.

By Searching Through the Library

If you cannot identify a correct Device Code for your equipment from the Device

Code list, you may search the code through the library:-

1. Turn on your device manually (e.g. TV).

2. Press a desired Device Mode Key (e.g. TV).

3. Hold down “SET” for 2 seconds until the indicator lights up.

4. Enter a corresponding Magic Search Code from following table. The indicator

should go out immediately.

(e.g. press device mode key, then press and , and enter TV

Magic Search Code 0000.)

5. Press the same desired device mode key again as in step 2 above. (e.g. TV)

6. Hold down “SET” for 2 seconds until the indicator lights up.

7. Aim the URC at your device (e.g. TV), press the “-Vol / Vol+” key to increase

(+) or decrease (-) the code number by one digit. Continue to press the

-Vol / Vol+ key until the equipment responds. (The unit will change channels or turn itself off). You may need to do this for several minutes until your remote finds the correct code.

Once your device responds, immediately press the “SET” key to lock in code

and the indicator should go out.

* Simply repeat the above setup procedures to search the Device Code for

your VCR or CBL. (Remember to press a correct Device Mode Key

and correct Magic Search Code in step 2-5 above)

Note:

-           The second TV, VCR or CVL can be searched and lock into “AUX” mode. Just simply press the “AUX” Mode Key in step 2 & 5 and enter an appropriate Magic Search Code for your second TV, VCR or CBL.

-           When you press the SET key, the remote will automatically exit the programming mode.

-           After the remote searches all codes, the indicator will flash several times, then repeat searching.

3 OPERATING THE URC

Normal Operation

Once you have set up the URC for your A/V equipment, it works like your original remote controls. To operate, just aim it at your equipment, press an appropriate device mode key and invoke the desired function by pressing a corresponding key on the URC. The indicator flashes during signal transmission and as confirmation of key touch.

Punch Through

Punch through allows you to operate TV’s volume and mute functions without having to switch the device modes repeatedly even when your URC is in other operating modes.

4 SLEEP TIMER

You can program your remote to turn off your equipment within a certain period of time, up to 99 minutes from the present time. You can set the Sleep Timer for most of the devices, regardless of whether the equipment has a timer function.

However, the Sleep Timer message will not appear on the TV screen. To set the Sleep Timer, follow these steps:

1. Press a desired Device Mode Key (e.g. TV)

2. Press the SLEEP key to enter the Sleep Timer Mode and the indicator will light up.

3. Use the number keys 0-9 to enter the time in which you want the equipment to turn off. You may set the Sleep Timer from 1-99 minutes.

     Eg. If you want the equipment to shut off in eight minutes, press 08;

           If you want the unit to shut off in 30 minutes, press 30.

Once the Sleep Timer is set, the indicator will flash one a minute. When the

Specified amount of time has passed, the equipment will turn off and the

Indicator will flicker briefly.

*To cancel the Sleep Timer, press any button. The unit will not shut off  automatically at the designated time.

NOTE:

-     You must leave the remote pointing toward the equipment so the equipment

Can receive the shut-off signal.

-     Make sure each entry is within 10 seconds of the previous entry. Other-wise,

You will exit Sleep Timer Mode.

-     If you press any key after step 3, you will cancel the Sleep Timer Setting.

5 MAINTENANCE

1. Do not expose your URC to dust, strong sun light, humidity, high temperature, or mechanical shock.

2. Do not use old and new batteries together as old batteries tend to leak.

3. Do not use corrosive or abrasive cleansers on your URC.

4. Keep the unit dust free by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth.

5. Do not disassemble your URC it contains no user-serviceable parts.

6 TROUBLESHOOTING

Q. My URC does not work at all!

A. Check your A/V device, if the device’s main switch is turned off, your URC could not operate your device.

A. Check whether your batteries are inserted properly and are in correct +/- marks.

A. Check whether you have pressed the corresponding device mode key for your device.

A. If the batteries are low, replace the batteries.

Q. If several Device Codes listed under the brand of my A/V device, how can I select the correct Device Code?

A. To seek the correct Device Code for your A/V device, test the code one by one until most keys work properly.

Q. My A/V equipment responds only to some of the commands.

A. You have set a code for which only some commands work properly but some do not. Try other codes until most keys work properly.
