Getting Started
Congratulations!
Your new Master Remote Control eliminates the frustration of having to use several
remote controls. The Master 3-in-1 has been designed to control most TV sets
and VCRs in today's consumer market, as well as Pay TV boxes.
Before you start to programme your remote
control, please read the following important instructions:
Battery Replacement
If the batteries in your remote control
need to be replaced, use two fresh 1.5 volt AAA alkaline batteries. To install
or replace the batteries, open the battery door on the back of the remote and
insert the batteries in the direction indicated, then snap the battery door
closed.
To test the batteries press "TV"
then "POWER". The red LED should illuminate. If the LED does not
illuminate, check the battery orientation, or replace them as needed.
Once you have programmed
your remote control, you will not need to reprogram it again, unless the batteries
are allowed to run flat and not replaced within a few hours. It is recommended
that the new batteries be installed immediately after removal of the old batteries.
Programming your Master Remote Control
You are now ready to programme the
Master Remote Control. Find the code for the device you wish to control in
the Device Codes section on the reverse side of these instructions.
If the brand name of your device
is not listed use the "Code Search" section of these instructions.
All codes are
three-digit numbers. As you programme each mode, write down the correct codes
in the spaces provided, for future use.
Many devices have more than one code
listed. For these cases, start with the first code listed. For example, if
you have a Sony TV, the first code is 072.
Please note after entering a device
code, the LED will flash twice. If the LED does not flash twice, but turns
off, you have entered an invalid code and the procedure must be repeated.
Also note that if it takes you longer
than 20 seconds to press the next key in the programming sequence, the whole
sequence will be erased and you will have to start again. This feature is added
to prevent the accidental reprogramming of the remote during regular viewing.
Programming your TV
Turn on your TV to your favourite
channel.
In the "Device Codes"
section look up the three-digit code for your TV under the manufacturer (brand).
- On the Master Remote Control, press and hold "TV" until the signal
LED flashes on and off.
- Now enter the first three-digit code. After depression of the first digit,
the signal LED will stay on. After entry of the last digit, the signal LED
should flash twice and turn off. If the signal LED does not flash twice but
just turns off, an incorrect code has been entered and the procedure should
be repeated.
After you have entered the code,
point the remote at your TV and press .
If your TV turns off, you are finished programming the remote for the control
of your TV. Note the code below.

the "Code Search" section of this guide.
Code Search
The Code Search allows you to search
through the codes to determine the code that operates your device. The Volume
Up and Volume Down keys are used to step through the codes until the correct
code is determined. The procedure is as follows:
- Turn on the device that you want to control so it is actually showing a programme.
- Depress the mode key (TV, VCR or CA) until the signal LED flashes on and off
(approx. 3 seconds).
- Depress the power key (
). The LED
stops flashing and remains on.
- Now depress and release the VOLs key repeatedly and slowly until the device
turns off. The signal LED will turn off and on with each depression. (Note:
If the device turns off, but you have depressed the VOL- key again, the VOL+
key may be depressed to return the remote to the correct code to operate the
device.)
- When the device responds by turning off, depress the power key (
)
to lock in the code.
Note: It will take approx. 20 minutes
to complete the search. If your device has not turned off in that time the
remote is not compatible with it.
Code Recall
This feature allows you to identify
the code that operates your device when the "Code Search" method
is used. When the three digits are identified, you should write them down
in the appropriate space of these instructions for record purposes.
The procedure is as follows:
- Depress the mode key (TV, VCR or CA) until the signal LED flashes on and off.
- Depress the C/P key.
- Count and record the sequence of flashes for the appropriate mode key. Each
digit is separated by a pause. A zero is a rapid flashing of the LED.
